Shaq expected to play in finale
MIAMI — Shaquille O'Neal, who has been out for a week with a bruised left thigh, is expected to play in tonight's 7:30 exhibition finale as the Heat hosts NBA champion San Antonio at AmericanAirlines Arena.
O'Neal's fellow centers, Alonzo Mourning and Michael Doleac, missed the last two games but also figure to be in uniform as Miami rolls out its most complete lineup of training camp. Mourning was out with a bruised left foot and Doleac with a bruised back.
The 0-6 Heat - the NBA's only winless team in pre-season - might provide a preview of its opening-night lineup.
O'Neal, power forward Udonis Haslem and point guard Jason Williams are set. At shooting guard, the competition to start is between Smush Parker and Dorell Wright. The small forward will be Wright or Antoine Walker.
The 20-man roster has to be cut to 15 by 6 p.m. Oct. 29. The regular-season opener is Nov. 1 against Detroit at the AAA.
Charlotte: Bobcats reserve forward Adam Morrison is likely done for the season after an MRI exam revealed a torn ligament in his left knee. The injury occurred in the third quarter of Saturday's 113-93 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
