Clippers' Davis signs shoe deal with Chinese company
Baron Davis is big in China.
He made the jump from the Golden State Warriors to the L.A. Clippers this summer. And after his endorsement deal with Reebok expired over the summer now he is the chief endorser for Li-Ning, a Chinese clothing and shoe company.
According a report in the Sports Business Journal, Davis’ new line shoe and clothing line will initially be sold exclusively in China, with him already having shot some television ads there. There could be plans to expand the brand to the U.S. in the future.
Li-Ning is not the only Chinese company to sign an NBA star. Jason Kidd signed a deal with Peak, another Chinese sportswear company, in August, after having endorsed Nike for years.
Though Davis’ agent, Bill Duffy, said it was the largest deal for a non-Chinese athlete with a Chinese company.
